SINGAPORE MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY

This project saw the restoration of nearly half the natural greenery lost from the former Bras Basah Park during the campus construction. Intended as a campus in the park, our landscape efforts at the campus were directed at minimizing its impact to the existing landscape. This involved the careful preservation and transplantation of 16 long-standing mature Angsana trees belonging to the park. New trees were also added along street frontages, offering shade and shelter along pedestrian routes. The works included the creation of a green-wall effect using veils of Shower-of-Gold vines (Tristellateia Australasiae) that cascade down the concrete structural forms for about half of the campus façade - helping to reduce solar heat gain while reinforcing their natural setting. A central lawn was also created for exhibitions and public usage.
