MAPLETREE BUSINESS CITY

MAPLETREE BUSINESS CITY

Mapletree Business City is a 1.7-million-square-foot Grade A office and business park space located at the fringe of Singapore’s Central Business District. The highlights of this project were the creation of a 1,521 square meter convex green roof over an amenity building that helps to reduce heat gain, complimenting arched green walls, and a comprehensive rainwater harvesting and automatic irrigation system that provides for the extensive landscape - all of which contribute significantly to the development’s energy savings. Manicured lawns interspersed with trees and a generous use of low shrubs further define the topography, creating lush views while retaining a sense of openness.

Rainwater is used as one of the primary sources for irrigation, which is harvested from roof terraces and green ramp planters and channeled into a 201m³ rainwater harvesting tank located at the basement. The automatic irrigation system is connected to a rain sensor which automatically turns off all irrigators when it detects rainfall.

Drip irrigation provides for a landscape surface area of 17, +65 64511922m² at 10mm of water per m² which amounts to 175,83 m³ per application. Water from PUB is only supplemented if rainwater harvesting is insufficient. This system reduces water consumption considerably while disseminating water efficiently to plants throughout the landscape.
